OCNA Admins DudleyGrunt and Mr.Yuck interviewed on The Oh Beep! Geocaching Podcast

OCNA Admins DudleyGrunt (Dave) and Mr.Yuck (Jim) were interviewed by Mark, AKA Benign Source, AKA Banana Source about The Opencaching Network on the Oh Beep! Geocaching Podcast, episode 20, released on March 9th, 2014. The interview itself actually happened over two weeks prior; we can only aspire to some day be as far ahead on our interviews as they are! The Oh Beep! podcast is a family friendly Geocaching podcast originating out of Nottingham in The UK, and this weeks show was hosted by Banana Source and his children Cachezilla, and Doctor D. The interview begins right around the 30 minute mark, but we strongly suggest listening to the whole show if you have the time. Seasoned podcast veteran DudleyGrunt does most of the talking, but Mr.Yuck chimes in plenty, and we're very happy with the interview, and we thank Mark very much for having us on. In late December 2013, we promised an interview with the Oh Beep! Geocaching Podcast, and here it is! This Podcast, originating from The UK, made it's debut on November 9th, 2013. The latest episode on their website as of the date of this post is episode 12. And Ohbeep.com is a very well done website, there you will find links to follow the show on several social media outlets, as well as links for the many options to subscribe to the podcast. The OH BEEP! Geocaching podcast is a relatively new entry into the Geocaching podcastosphere, having had it's debut on November 9th, 2013. This family friendly Geocaching podcast originates from The UK, and can have as many as four hosts (all from the same Family). Check out their well done website for the show at www.ohbeep.com. The show we are embedding into this post with the HikerJamz interview was the 9th episode, and is hosted by Benign Source (Father) and Doctor D (Son). This episode consists of about a 30 minute segment of their regular weekly show, and about a 34 minute interview with HikerJamz. Be sure to listen to the whole show, it's very entertaining. We obviously have permission to post it here. And we're terrible at keeping secrets, we will be interviewing the OH BEEP! Geocaching Podcast here on the blog in the near future. :-)

RSS Feeds, Geocaching in the News, a failed experiment, and a new experiment (be a BETA tester!)

Above is a (rather large and nicely done) RSS Feed icon. Might as well go with the Wikipedia definition, as follows: 

"RSS Rich Site Summary (originally RDF Site Summary, often dubbed Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a "feed", "web feed", or "channel") includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship."

Here is an excellent article from Google support, titled Feed 101, should you need to read up more on what RSS feeds are, and how they work (in layman's terms). Now this blog post could be about just about any subject. But in Geocaching, we do in fact have new web content just about every day of what is bolded in the quote above: blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video.

The HikerJamz Geocaching Talk Show

The HikerJamz Geocaching Talk Show was brought to this blogger's attention via a "who to follow" link at his personal Twitter account (not the OpencachingNA account). I followed @hikerjamz, and quickly saw that his profile mentions his radio show. Turns out that like this blog, HikerJamz, with the "Jamz" being pronounced "James", his first name, is also a March, 2013 entry into the big world of Geocaching media. The show airs live every Saturday, at 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on the Blog Talk Radio website. And of course previous shows are archived and available for listening. He was nice enough to agree to be interviewed by this blog.
